But just minutes later the intern appears to have been consumed by fear and regret, following up with: “My boss is in a meeting, i’ve made a terrible mistake, im very sorry everyone, it wasn’t meant to be offensive! logging him off now! sorry!” When Mr Watson apparently returned to the office he posted: ”I sincerely apologise for the recent tweet. A lesson learned for a young intern. She’s also very sorry. I will deal with the matter offline.” The intern’s fate was unclear but the tweets sparked a campaign on the micro-blogging site under#savetheintern for her to keep her job.
