I was really excited to see this advert, and the first line ‘whoever said green things were boring was so uncool’ assured me it was going to be just as good as it’s predecessor in 2011.

But then it all went downhill and I have to say I was a teeny bit disappointed (I feel ashamed to admit it, but it’s true!) I think it’s like the sequel to a really good film; you want it to be as good as the previous one but it just doesn’t cut it. You know how good it can be, because it’s already been done and anything else is just going to be a bit of a wannabe.
Compared to the incredible Kitchen Odyssey of 2011, Lurpack’s new advert seemed less thought out. I still love the close up, slow motion shots they use, and the vibrant array of colours (the purple cabbage shot brought a smile to my face - so clever). So what is it that’s putting such a downer on it?
For me, it’s the singing voiceover. What happened to the quirky and humorous commentating we saw on the last video? I saw a glimpse of it in the first few seconds and then boom - gone! Sorry Lurpack, but i’m just not sure singing was the right way to go when I know what you’re capable of. I liked the simple story of something I could relate to and thinking about what the French would do. Fingers crossed for 2013’s attempt…
